Permanent Jewellery

FAQ: FAQ

HOW IS THE CHAIN MADE 'PERMANENT'?

The process is really quick and simple. A small welder is used to weld the chain together with a small jump ring. But don't stress this can be cut off easily with scissors if required.

An option to have your chain rewelded if you remove it is available for a fee of $15.

Surgery/MRI's: Ask your doctor prior to removing your jewellery and gain their advice to see if you can leave it on.

WHAT TYPE OF METAL IS THE CHAIN AND COMPONENTS MADE FROM IN PERMANENT JEWELLERY?

We offer two types of metal for permanent jewellery. The first is 14K gold filled chain. The second is .925 sterling silver.

All Gold Filled components and chains are 1/20th gold with a brass core. All our gold filled is nickel and cadmium free.

All of our sterling silver components and chains are at least .925. All our sterling silver is nickel and cadmium free.

WILL THE CHAINS TARNISH?

In some circumstances 14K gold filled Jewellery and Sterling silver .925 may tarnish: A dark mark or discoloration that can occur with gold-filled jewelry is often a result of abrasion or the base metal reacting with substances present on the skin. Here are a few reasons why this may happen:
1. Body Chemistry: Every individual’s body chemistry is unique, and some people’s skin chemistry can react with metals differently. Factors like pH levels, sweat composition, and skin acidity can influence the reaction between the base metal and the skin, leading to discoloration.
2. Friction and Moisture: When gold-filled jewelry comes into contact with moisture, such as sweat or water, it can accelerate the reaction between the base metal and the skin. Additionally, friction caused by the movement of the jewelry against the skin can contribute to the dark mark.
3. Chemicals and Cosmetics: Contact with chemicals found in cosmetics, lotions, perfumes, hairsprays, or household cleaning products can cause gold-filled jewelry to darken. Some chemicals can react with the metal components, leading to discolouration.
4. Environmental Factors: Exposure to certain environmental elements, such as air pollution, sulfur, or high humidity, can accelerate the tarnishing process of gold-filled jewelry.

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE FOR THE CHAINS?

A quick polish with a jewellery cloth can brighten the chain up. The chains will benefit from a clean after product use i.e. sunscreen and perfumes.

DOES IT HURT?

Not one bit! the process is painless. A small piece of leather is used as a precaution between your skin and the jewellery. We will brief you on the day of the potential risks involved.

What is the Warranty on a Permanent Piece?

- you have followed the care instruction provided on the day and disclosed on our website

Outside of the 30-days warranty, there will be a $15 charge to replace a damaged jump ring.
